One Hoop at a Time – Moving Forward, Never Looking Back
After my injury, I spent countless hours thinking what would have happened if I never went to work that day, the day of my injury. That day, I fell 15 feet on my head.
I’d still be working, I’d still be driving. Would my girlfriend still be with me? Would I have started a family?
I’d be able to do things without having to ask permission and play sports like I used to without the constant fear of hitting my head the way I used to beforehand. I’d be able to go to a bachelor party without my mother coming along or go on a date without an aid tagging along in the back.
I spent more time thinking of that moment than anything else and it took over my life.
With the help of support groups and Preet’s Mindful Movement classes, I have been able to overcome ruminating over the day of my injury. Eventually, I learned tools to be able to stop living in that moment.
Don’t get me wrong, I still think about that moment everyday, but it doesn’t hijack my day the way it did before. In Preet’s mindfulness class, I learned different tools and breathing techniques that helped me with this. Now, I’m moving forward with my life, and I’m not looking back.

You are definitely an inspiration
Really great work.feel very proud
It has been an amazing experience to witness the growth in Francis. I had the pleasure of working on a team with him along with other Brainiac members. Knowing you have the support by other Brainiacs including the Mindfulness Group with Preet, plus the Meditation Mondays with Annie, these groups help you take back control of a overactive brain that’s dying for structure and clarity when dealing with tough stressful situations. Being able to calm yourself and be centered is a huge blessing and essential for your healing journey/life. I’m very thankful and grateful for the groups.
